LatitudeLongitude is website for searching Lat-Long coordinates of the 40.000 cities in our database or geolocating address. I tried to optimise it for mobile devices too with minimal bandwidth and the design is adapted to small screens.
Some countries (like Russia) are placed on 2 continents. Continent or region shown on city page is for country. For example, that's why it may happen, that some city is located in Asia, and on page it is displayed Europe.

What is longitude?
Longitude is a geographic coordinate from -180° to 180° (or 0-180° East/West) that specifies the east-west position of a point on the Earth's surface. It is an angular measurement, usually expressed in degrees and denoted by the Greek letter lambda (λ). Points with the same longitude lie in lines running from the North Pole to the South Pole. By convention, one of these, the Prime Meridian, which passes through the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, England, was intended to establish the position of zero degrees longitude. Read more

What is equator?
Equator is a line of latitude in a geo coordinate system defined to be 0° and it is the intersection of a sphere's surface with the plane perpendicular to the sphere's axis of rotation and midway between the poles. Read more
